International Professional Development Opportunity

The Rutgers University Physics Education Department and the NJAAPT would like to announce an exciting international professional development opportunity planned for the summer of 2011.   Dr. Gorazd Planinsic from Slovenia, will visit us in NJ this July 18th and 19th. Dr. Planinsic is a leader in undergraduate and postgraduate physics education courses at the Department of Physics, University of Ljubljana, as well as the Continuing Education program for in-service secondary school physics teachers in Slovenia. He is cofounder and collaborator of the Slovenian hands-on science center - The House of Experiments.

The two day program will begin with a talk in the afternoon of the 18thfollowed by a full day (9-3) workshop on the 19th.   During the talk Dr. Planinsic will show some really cool experiments and during the workshop the participants will learn how to analyze those experiments using the ISLE (Investigative Science Learning Environment) approach, and how physics teachers can turn some of their existing experiments into similar activities.

Details on registering for the just the talk or the talk and the workshop will be posted at a later date – this preliminary notice is going out so you can save the dates.
